Western Union Co. —the world’s largest money-transfer business and Fortune 500 company — is moving its Douglas County HQ to the Denver Tech Center in an effort to make the global brand synonymous with Denver.

The Denver Business Journal spoke with CEO Hikmet Ersek about the move and his future plans for the company — that has been headquartered in Douglas County for more than 20 years. Ersek expects to raise its economic impact on metro Denver by roughly $300 million over the next 10 years. Western Union Co. recently signed a uniform-logo deal with the Denver Nuggets.

Western Union Co. will be the second Fortune 500 company to be headquartered in the City and County of Denver, along with health-care company DaVita Inc.
