Denver, COBMC Investments (BMC) is pleased to announce the commencement of construction on the $35 million Marriott Moxy hotel in Cherry Creek North. The innovative Moxy hotel will provide a nontraditional hospitality experience, featuring a vibrant residential design and comfortable accommodations. The hotel will be a low cost alternative for the Cherry Creek North shopping district. Construction of this project will take 14 months with an anticipated opening in mid-2017.

“This is a really important project for Cherry Creek because it will allow travelers who have historically been priced out of this area to enjoy all of the incredible amenities it has to offer,” says Matthew Joblon, CEO of BMC Investments. “We are committed to delivering a space that our neighboring community will love as much as our hotel guests. This project is unlike anything Denver has ever seen in the hospitality space.”

This is the first Moxy hotel in Colorado. The brand launched in Europe in 2013 and has recently expanded into the U.S. with locations in New York, Chicago and San Francisco scheduled to open mid-2017. Moxy is designed to provide a chic, modern and vibrant guest experience at an affordable price. Connected spaces and modern design elements entice budget-conscious travelers.

The hotel will be located at 240 Josephine Street, a major northbound arterial. It will feature 170 rooms, averaging 191 square feet per room. Hotel amenities will include a fitness center, indoor and outdoor meeting space and a lobby, which includes a large bar and lounge. Rather than a traditional reception desk, Moxy guests will check in at the hotel’s bar. The hotel will offer coffee and fresh pastries each morning sourced by local purveyors, and a unique craft cocktail menu along with local beers on tap in the evenings. A fresh market, located on the main floor in the central lounge, will provide convenient grab-and-go meal options for hotel guests as well as artisanal small plates. The distinctive outdoor lounge spaces will be open to the public and feature fire pits and comfortable seating. The outdoor space will be programmed with events specifically centered on the residents of the Cherry Creek North and Denver Country Club neighborhoods.

The Moxy hotel will be operated by Vision Hospitality Group, recently recognized by Marriott as the 2015 Developer of the Year in the United States. BMC’s project partners are general contractor GE Johnson and architect JNS. BMC also worked with Matt Cornwell, senior vice president of FirstBank, to secure the long-term construction to permanent loan.
